The Lore of the South East Empty
PostSubject: The Lore of the South East   The Lore of the South East EmptyWed May 31, 2017 9:17 pm

In the entire Eastern half of the Southern continent, there is a single building. This building stands many stories tall, but actually has only one floor, and the rest remains open. This building has only ever been referred to as "The Tower". It is unsure of when this tower was built, but aside from it, the people only sleep in temporary tents.

The South East is comprised of an entirely nomadic people, who have very close relations with their horses, and because of this are often considered the best horse riders in the known lands by a significant amount. Very few other creatures live in the South East, and the majority of the landscape is made of flat, grassy plains. The people there herd cows often as a source of food, or harvest the grasses, as they satisfy both human and horse alike. They live simple lives, and do not interact with the other lands very much.

At the age of ten, every boy and girl born in the South East is given a horse (and on occasion, outsiders that have lived there for some time are given horses as well). They are told to treat the horse as their own brother or sister, and that they will be paired together for life. Usually, by the age of fifteen, any citizen of the South East can out-ride and out-maneuver even the best horsemen of any other land easily.

Sometimes, people of the South East decide to sell their expert riding skills into mercenary work, but any that chose to do so are seen as outcasts, and asked to never return to the people of the South East, for they despise war, and never take part in any, unless their own land is threatened. If a person decides to leave the South East for a reason other than mercenary work, such as to simply adventure, they are asked to wait five years before returning.

If one's horse dies before the rider does, they never take another horse, but instead spend the rest of their life around the Tower, often becoming storytellers to the younger generation. If the horse dies before the rider, the horse is set free to go where it will, and will never again be ridden.
