PostSubject: The Lore of the South West   Wed May 31, 2017 9:18 pm

The South West can often be viewed as one large game of poker. It is very easy for one to lose everything they own, but every now and then, someone wins all the fame and wealth they want.

The South West is by far the wealthiest of all the known lands. The main reason for this is that it is the largest trading hub, as it is centered between the Western and Eastern continents. Unlike the other lands, however, only a very small portion of the land is habitable, as there a series of five short, but vast rivers, which all form together before going out to the ocean. It is along these five rivers that the South Western cities were built, though the buildings are continuous between each, and it is impossible to tell where one ends and the next begins.

Outside of the small oasis and river valleys, the rest of the South West continent is a large wasteland of nothing but desert and sand for as far as the eye can see. Many have tried to venture it, in attempts to see another side, but all have failed.

The South West has no single ruler, but instead is governed by a series of the wealthiest people currently in the land. Many give these individuals the title of lords, though they are not royalty like the lords of the West. As wealth tends to do, many of the individuals pass their power down to children, but there are many occasions where different lords rise, while others fall.

The lords act as if they work together, and often try to form laws, however, there is always acts of cloak and dagger at work, and the South West is often viewed as a safe haven for law breakers.

The South West is the only land where slaves are sold, as the other lands find it unmoral, though they still buy them. It is also the only land to have pit fights, in the style of a gladiator arena, for money.

Despite all of this, the South West still manages to maintain the largest library and records of all the known lands, and many respect it for that.

Every citizen in the South West is either seeking a way to get more money and power, or to leave the continent.
