| Occupation:
Every character will always have an occupation. Upon creation, you will see a list of options available to you, depending on which continent you are in. Not all occupations are available to start as, for some require promotion or taking power. Some occupations have a weekly income, while others do not, however, the ones which do also come with certain responsibilities that must be performed in order to keep the weekly income. If you do not meet these responsibilities, you will likely be stripped of your job. Your occupation will also indicate if the King or Queen of your land gains income from you working for them. Some occupations will also give you access to greater resources, such as the army general occupation will grant you access to NPC soldier units. Your starting occupation will also determine your starting attributes, and items. Fame: Everyone starts at 0 fame. To gain fame, the most common way is through a quest. Other ways are through public displays of power of some sort. Dueling another player or NPC who has a significant amount of fame will grant you 1/10th of their fame, rounded up, and cause them to lose the amount that you gain. Sometimes, performing extremely difficult spells, such as bringing someone back to life, will grant you some fame as well. Fame is necessary for some occupations, but more importantly to gain a following, or the right to rule. More about this can be found under Kingdoms and Following rules, but this will briefly be explained. Certain groups of NPCs will be willing to follow and work for you depending on your fame and reputation, and sometimes other factors. Because of this, fighting someone with a lot of fame will be difficult, for they will likely have a band, or army of NPCs supporting them. Also, if your fame is too low and you are a ruler, some civilians may not respect your title. Fame has no limit. Reputation:
Your reputation will either be a positive, or negative number, but you always start at 0. A positive number shows that you are a more kind-hearted person, willing to do what is just and fair. A negative number often indicates you are cruel, or morally dark. Reputation can be tied to fame in the sense that it can be gained through quests, killing others, or other notable actions. Your reputation acts as an indicator to other players, for whether they should avoid you, or go to you for help, however, it does the same for NPCs. If you have a high reputation, you are more likely to attract groups of priests, or farmers, while if you have a low reputation, you will attract more criminals or cults. | |
