| So, I have come to realize just how fast kings and queens acquire currency, and that many of them end up not knowing what to spend it on.
To end this money issue, I came up with the idea of rulers being able to spend money to boost the strength of their kingdom. This could mean buying armor for troops, buying an outpost and scouts to watch from it, or buying siege weapons and fortified walls. Each one would have its own benefits, but also add to the "kingdom strength", which would be a number to show how strong the kingdom is. When one kingdom attacks the other, they can compare these numbers to help think about which kingdom has which strengths and such.
Of course, having more heroes within the kingdom will also add to this number, (heroes being simply player characters and NPCs).
No one seems to be in the mind set of waging war as of yet, and the site is currently too small (another reason to recruit more players), but this is just an idea of something to possibly add into the game. | |

| One thing that might be worth pondering is this - can a kingdom benefit from the Craft of a hero character in a way that money can't buy? For example, if a character has a craft of 600, would s/he possibly be able to make insane fortifications in the same way s/he would be able to make insane items? Or will the creation of such things be based solely on money? Just wondering about stuff like that, as it will likely make a huge difference. | |

| Yeah, and seeing as how as of now craft is kinda sorta useless? Good addition, legendary defensed and stuff. |

| Sounds good and Psyre made a good point. But Kings shouldn't just spend gold on their kingdoms, right now us kings are the only way that the other people gain money, so kings should try to balance out their spending. | |

| Of course, in reply to everything. Psyre's comment will be taken (as it pretty much always is), and Ivan makes a just point as well. | |

| I think this is a great idea, and the crafting sounds good, too. Only problem is that lands that have more people and have been under rule for longer can easily become massively stronger than other ones- for example, if all lands put all their gold into defenses, the North could easily destroy any other land. On the other hand, if a focus is placed more on defense, certain places could become invincible. Treaties could fix this fairly well, and, well, I don't have any ideas, so I'm just throwing this thought out there. | |

| Perhaps we can avoid issues like that by having a cap for how much a position can be fortified? For example, one probably shouldn't be able to support a single city with five different 30-foot-thick walls as well as a series of pitfall traps, moats, etc. As long as there's a cap on what can be done, we should be able to avoid a single land completely overpowering the others. Maybe. Hopefully. I think that once we start talking actual numbers, figuring out the balances will be a lot easier. It seems to me that there's a lot of support for the general idea, but the specifics are going to be much harder to figure out, much less implement. | |

| Well, naturally. You can build a wall, and you can fortify it, but there is only so much one can do with defenses, and only a certain amount people can have in one area. This is still all under the "idea" part of making a new rule set; it isn't even under construction yet. But, I do understand the other Seer's concern. Plus, this will become a lot easier to think of once...more of, "if" we get more players. As of now, the north and north east could easily crush other lands, mostly due to the amount of income those kings gain. Again, just all speculation as of now. | |
