A mount, for the most part, is referring to a horse. In the South West, camels can also be found as mounts, and occasionally, it will be possible to obtain a rare mount (something other than a horse).

A mount is intended for faster travel, or to carry good. They can be used in combat, however, they are usually ineffective.
Mounts, like people, have a weight capacity, and the same weight rules apply. However, if you are riding your mount, your weight is added to your mount’s current load (the weight it is carrying). Most mounts will have a much higher carrying capacity than a human.
Mounts have a certain amount of hit points, and can be killed. You can purchase armor for your mount to prevent this, and the same armor rules apply as they do for humans.

You can put runes onto your mount, but it may take some training before they understand your commands for when to use the rune; this training will be listed as a word count requirement per rune, on the mounts sheet. The rune space available for a mount will also be listed on its sheet.
